The Art of Applied Visual Thinking

The official newsletter of Applied Visual Thinking SUPERHEROES.  Vol. 1 No. 4

Nov 28, 2020

'Tis the season to be thankful for all things big and little that make us smile. Topping my gratitude list this year are my customers. For beta testing, signing up for online courses, sending smile emojis and taking time to write feedback…

I thank you, customer!

One way I plan to show my thanks to YOU this year, Dear Customer, is by MAPPING YOUR JOURNEY so that I continue to improve your experience with Applied Visual Thinking. Read on for more tokens of my gratitude.

How can you pass the happy this holiday season? How about a good old-fashioned hand-written note? It's fun to receive mail that doesn’t ask anything of us, and a note that's signed by a real person stands out.

Imagine how much more longer your note will linger if it's accompanied by a drawing that makes your customer smile? Plus, the budget is easy to approve.

What you will need:

On the cover, write "ThankYou" using your thick marker.

  • A couple of pieces of standard white copy paper
  • Fancier paper if you like, enough sheets to match your mailing list
  • A thick marker or highlighter in a color, and a thinner black pen or marker
  • Envelopes (probably A2)
  • Stamps

Step 1: Print the template on standard copy paper to use as a model and for folding practice. First fold the longest edge in half with the printed side out, then star to star. With each fold, match the corners and run your fingertip or the back of a spoon along each fold to make them crisp and flat.

Step 2: Print the template on your fancy paper, or just use it as a reference. Fold in the same way, then unfold to write. Make sure your paper is oriented the same way as the model before you write.

Step 3: On the cover, write "Thank You" using your thick marker.

Step 4: Add one or more smiling faces to your letters using the black marker.

Step 5: Inside, draw a GRATITUDE icon like the one shown, or make one of your own. What does GRATITUDE look like to you?

Step 6: Pair your icon with a word or phrase written in your own neatest script. Done. Ready to address, stuff, stamp, and mail!
